A 4% wage rise at Australia Post became effective from the first full pay period, this month.
This CPI-exceeding wage increase was secured through the EBA11 outcome that members overwhelmingly voted to lock in during the last round of bargaining in 2024.
Importantly, this isn’t a one-off payment, bonus or temporary incentive. It’s a permanent increase to your rate of pay that compounds on last year’s increase – delivering real wage growth and helping members and their families keep pace with the ever-rising cost of living.
This achievement belongs to every CWU member across the country. Your determination throughout the EBA11 campaign and your commitment to maintaining strong Union membership in your workplace gave our bargaining team the strength and influence needed to secure this outcome.
While it’s pleasing to see another wage increase delivered, we know many members are still doing it tough – with household budgets under pressure from rising housing, utilities, insurance, groceries and other everyday expenses. That’s why the CWU remains committed not only to securing wage increases through bargaining, but also ensuring members can access additional savings and cost-of-living support through the range of benefits and services available as part of CWU membership.
As important as this increase is, it is also the final wage rise deliverable under EBA11. The Agreement reaches its nominal expiry date in October next year and we will begin preparations for the next round of bargaining early in 2027.
The negotiations ahead will be critical. CWU members deserve wage increases that will protect living standards, as well as strong protections around job security, workload, dignity, respect and their rights at work. Achieving those outcomes requires a strong, united and growing Union.
The reality is simple: employers pay attention to numbers. The stronger our membership, the greater our collective influence is at the bargaining table next year. Every new member strengthens our ability to secure the best possible pay and conditions for members at Australia Post.
So if you’re working alongside someone who isn’t yet a CWU member, have a conversation with them and encourage them to join, today.
As we look towards the next round of bargaining, now is the time to build our strength. The outcomes we achieve next year will be determined by the unity and membership levels we build today.
Together, we secured this increase. Together, we need to fight for the next one.
This 4% increase applies to your base rate of pay and should be now reflected completely in your pay advice from the first full pay period of the month. It should also flow through in full to all EBA allowances.
