CWU National takes Australia Post to court to protect your rights

Late yesterday, Dan Dwyer, the CWU National Secretary served papers on Australia Post about the changes to the mail, Communication Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced recently.  These proposed changes will affect every Australia Post job, and could lead to mass redundancies.  We have a legally binding agreement with Australia Post (EBA8) saying that they must consult your union BEFORE deciding to make changes.  We demand the process is followed properly.

The Fair Work Commission case will be important to the future job security of every Australia Post employee.  Australia Post is trying to run a sham consultation, and picking and choosing some of the union’s State officials, in order to have their own meetings.  We believe the disloyalty of some of these officials is why Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he met with the Union and they are “working very, very closely with Australia Post" on these proposed changes.’

This is untrue.  You can be sure that no official of the CWU National Office has been part of this secret process, and we will not co-operate with Ahmed Fahour selling you out.

This court case won’t be the last, and the fight will continue to secure your pay, your conditions, your job, and Aussie Post’s future.
